Four hundred years ago,the Spanish architects of the Tornés family acquired a notebook to collect notes about the buildings they built and designed, including many traces and plans. But their pages do not only hold architectural traces, but also a combination of family and personal news and events, becoming a kind of private diary, containing valuable information about the daily life and deeds of this familiy for two centuries.
Nowadays that simple notebook has turned into a treasure of information. Natalia Juan rescues from Huesca's Historical Provincial Archive this book to show us with her study of it a world not so far away in time but very valuable for the present day researcher, and for anybody interested in life, work and architecture in Europe during the XVII and XVIII centuries.
The full notebook is reproduced at its real size, and this edition contains a transcription of the text, a study about the traces and texts it includes, and the forewords of Professors Elena Barlés and D. Antonio Bonet Correa, director of The Royal San Fernando Arts Academy.
